#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “The Kingfisher Shooter”

“So it was a 600 meter shot.”

“The Kingfisher Shot.”

“The what now?! What’re you on about.”

“The Kingfisher Shot is what I like to call a 600 meter shot. There is an old WWII legend I read where a sniper, after waiting three hours for his target, attracted the attention of two Common Kingfisher who perched on his scope.”

“Fascinating. How does that help us?”

“It gives us the name of this killer. Two US Representatives kill by a sniper who can shoot 600 meters. He’s just crying out for a name.”

“The Kingfisher Shooter. We can call him that for now.”

I know that’s supposed to be a camera scope in today’s inspiration, but I couldn’t help but see a sniper’s scope instead. Also, I see my friend Jimmie Bise posted his short story today. So nice to see him. I hope he does more. Enjoy!

The poacher hit the ground. Even with two ribs broken, she quickly pick up his rifle and aimed it at the matriarch that just sent her flying.

The poacher and the matriarch stared at each other’s eyes. A calf suddenly appeared and the poacher.

“Alright,” said the poacher, slowly lowering the rifle. “I’m done.”

The calf’s trunk felt up the matriarch and then ran back to the rest of the herd.

The poacher found herself breathing heavily as she slowly backed away from the matriarch.

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “The E-Wing Workshop”

“Oh my goodness, Adorellan.” said Santa Claus putting his gloved hand over his nose. “How long has E-Wing been abandon?”

“Fifty years, sir.” answered Adorellan behind his clipboard.

“Well, I want it up and running again in a month.” said Santa. “With Pokémon Go as popular as it is, we are going to be flooded with Pokémon toy requests.”

Santa started to leave, but Adorellan stood his ground.

“Yes…” said Santa Claus nervously. Santa noticed Adorellan was on his smart phone.

Adorellan put his smart phone away. “Nothing!”

“Then come, Adorellan. We have much to do until Christmas time comes!”

Friend Moe Lane put up a challenge. I took it and ran with it. It was refreshing, because Bing has begun to bore me. I hope you enjoy!

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “Battle Of Wall”

“But why Wall?”

Wall, South Dakota was not our first choice. However Canada military intelligence saw a large rookery of Emperor Penguins coming up through the Badlands and we were not going to make the same mistakes.

“We waited at Wall for the Emperor Penguins. We had hope the dry and misshapen Badlands would sap the penguins the will to fight.”

“In your words, what happen?”

“We destroyed the entire rookery. The Canadian forces was able to crush the main Emperor Penguins group while American irregulars picked off the rest of the flightless. We learned a lot that day, eh?”

Somehow, we return to some World War Penguin history with help from today’s inspiration. I know it is kind of silly, but I can’t help it. I’m in a bad mood and I want to laugh. Enjoy this cheese.

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “Beauty Lost”

The tour boat pulled into it’s Anchorage pier and the people started getting off the boat.

“Hey Captain, thanks!”

“The Humpback Whale was awesome!”

These were some of the comments some of the tourists gave to the skipper as they left.

After the last tourist had exited the boat, the skipper realized that one hasn’t come ashore.

Getting back on the boat, the skipper saw the Frenchman on his knees crying at his smartphone. They must have just gotten reception.

“What is it?” ask the skipper.

“Nice! Nice!”

The smartphone fell and the skipper saw the Nice’s Attack news headline.

We’re all crying. I’m sadden that the beauty was lost because of the tragedy today.

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “Love Them Twilight Fans!”

“That, everyone, is the tour! Now before we get to any questions, the Forks Chamber of Commerce would like me to remind you all that the Last Chance Fishing Derby at La Push will be happening later this month. We have pamphlets with the date if you are interested. Rise your hand if you have any questions about the town. Yes.”

“When can we meet Edward?”

“Character in a book.”

“Tell me you are a Jacob fan!”

“I have no opinion. Any questions about the town?

“Nope? Okay, the Forks Timber Museum will answer all your questions there! Thank you!”

Today’s inspiration did not give me much to work with. I did find that Olympic National Park is near Forks, Washington and found out the Twilight series was set there. This is a salute to the good people of Forks, Washington who I’m sure are very professional and love their tourists. Go visit them and see the many sites they have to offer!

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “The Great Black Canyon Summit”

Five fur trappers met at the mouth of the Black Canyon. Two American, one Frenchman, and two Comanche Indians.

“Well gentlemen,” started one of the American trappers. “It looks like we all want to hunt Coyote skin in the Black Canyon this year.”

Everyone signal their agreement.

“Good. We all want to sell our fur in Delta this year and we will do so if we don’t fight each other.” Again, everyone signal their agreement. “No stealing other people’s kill or shooting each other in the back.”

“Agreed, white man.” said one smiling Comanche. Both Comanche Indians laughed and left.

I wanted to write so much more, oh well. Enjoy!

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “The Fifth Circle”

Andrew took one step in the endless looking swamp and knew exactly where he was.

“Oh no. We’re here.”

“Yes, Andrew.” said Virgil. “Welcome to The Fifth Circle of Anger. The Wrathful fight each other on the surface and the Sullen are doomed below the waters.”

“What?! Sullen is Anger?”

“Angry at one-self.” said Virgil. “Angry at the world. A mistaken belief that you cannot change yourself or the world leads to depression, and often, suicide.”

“And the burnt trees?” asked Andrew.

“A reminder that there is no cover for Anger. Come, the walled city of Dis awaits us both.”

I want to point out that Anger is, in itself, not a sin. However if you are wrathful and sullen when you go to Hell, this is where you’ll end up. And actual suicides go to the 7th Circle. Based off of today’s inspiration. Enjoy!

#FridayFiction: #100WordChallenge | “Not Really Lost”

“We’re lost in the Namib Desert.”

“No, we are heading west toward the Atlantic Ocean. Our jeep just broke down.”

“But we are going to die of thirst!”

“We have four, full canteens of water. We are not going to die of thirst.”

“HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, WHAT IS THAT?!”

“That’s the tree tumbo, the Welwitschia plant. A living fossil.”

“Now I must be hearing things. I hear the ocean, but all I see is desert.”

“The Namib Desert runs right to the Atlantic Ocean. It’s there, don’t worry.”

“Okay, we’re here at the Atlantic Ocean. Now what?”

“Shut up.”

The Namib Desert is really something to behold. Enjoy!
