#FLSen: #PatrickMurphy Gets $1M #SuperPAC Boost …From Dad

Alt Headline: The Rep. Patrick Murphy Bailout

Because that is what it is:

Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Patrick Murphy (Fla.) is getting a major financial boost as his campaign heads into the final stretch, courtesy of a $1 million check from his father.

Thomas Murphy, a Florida home builder, gave the seven-figure sum to the Harry Reid-linked Senate Majority PAC – the group’s largest donation in July, according to the Federal Election Commission.

We all know Thomas Murphy is the financial muscle behind Patrick Murphy.

And oh, look who showed up in this article: Senator Harry Reid. I wonder why…

On July 15, two days after the $1 million check landed in the Senate Majority PAC account, the super-PAC announced to the Washington Post its plans to launch a $1 million ad buy in Florida.

The reported aim was to help Murphy win his primary on Aug. 30 against liberal challenger Rep. Alan Grayson, who is openly opposed by Democratic leadership.

Oh yeah right, Rep. Alan Grayson. What we have here is Thomas Murphy giving a knife to Harry Reid, who then stabs Grayson with said knife. The Alan Grayson/Harry Reid fight is just plain awesome and well documented on this site. You can read about it in their tags below.

There is a very small part of me that wishes that Alan Grayson win the Democratic Primary, because the Senator Marco Rubio* and Alan Grayson fight would totally be awesome. Sadly, the Marco Rubio/Patrick Murphy fight might be slightly one-sided**.

(gets on his knees)

Please God, please give the primary win to Alan Grayson. I don’t ask for much. Please enrich my life and give me some more Grayson. It will be a very boring general election here in Florida without Alan Grayson. Amen.

Well, see ya’ later!

#FLSen: The @AlanGrayson/@SenatorReid Fight, Round Two!

The “War Of Words” almost comes down to actual physical violence.

I’m sorry that my friend Moe Lane has forgone politics, because this newest Alan Grayson/Harry Reid development is just bloody fucking awesome and right up his ally:

Rep. Alan Grayson angrily confronted Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday, disrupting a meeting of the Congressional Progressive Caucus in front of dozens of staffers and members of Congress.

I could easily stop here. The summary of this story just tickles me to no end. However we must press on, because the details will just wonderful.

Grayson (D-Fla.), whose bid for the open Florida Senate seat Reid vehemently opposes, arrived at the meeting with Reid’s February statement in hand, according to two sources in the room. In that statement, Reid said Grayson has “no moral compass”…

Said the pot to the kettle:

Harry Reid, D-Nev. has no regrets about his 2012 claims that then presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid no taxes for 10 years.

The outgoing Senate Minority Leader even bragged to CNN that the comments, which had been described as McCarthyism, helped keep Romney from winning the election.

They can call it whatever they want. Romney didn’t win did he?” Reid said during a wide-ranging interview.

But, whatever. Moving on…

As each member took a turn to speak to Reid, it was Grayson’s turn. He asked Reid if the Nevada senator knows who he is. After Reid answered in the affirmative, Grayson went on the attack.

“Say my name, senator. Say my name,” Grayson told Reid…

…Err, Heisenberg?

Grayson responded by angrily waving a printout of Reid’s searing quote that called on Grayson to drop out of the primary race against Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.).

“Why’d you say that?” Grayson said, insisting Reid’s statement was false.

Reid calmly faced his inquisitor: “I want you to lose. It’s true.”

BOOM! There it is.

You know, there is a large contingent of grass-roots Republicans who think the party from on high wants to control who is nominated or not. That pails, however, for the open contempt Washington DC Democrats have for every day Democrats who have to fight it out in the trenches.

In a gaggle with reporters after the conflict blew up and sent shock waves through both sides of the Capitol, Grayson made clear that he believes a public battle with Reid – a “smearmonger” in his view – is to his advantage.

“Let’s face it, I’m not the establishment candidate. The establishment wants somebody who is a callow tool,” Grayson said. “As far as I can tell, the only criteria that the Democratic establishment has among Senate candidates this year is obedience. In that regard, perhaps I fall short.”

In a separate statement, Grayson called Murphy a “Republican sock puppet.”

Which is true. Rep. Patrick Murphy was a Republican until he “found” religion with the Democrats when he choose to capitalize on then-Senator Barack Obama’s win. If you are a Democrat and don’t think a Senator Murphy will betray you to President Trump, then I have a glass bridge in Dubai that I can cheaply sell you. At least with a Senator Alan Grayson, you know he’ll fight tooth and nail with President Trump and using his own game.

But what do I know. I am just a simple Republican.

Just for complete disclosure purposes, I fully endorse Lt Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera for the US Senate.

Well, see ya’ later!

#FLSen: The Great @AlanGrayson/@SenatorReid Slap Fight

There’s nothing more trilling than two morally challenged, white-male Democrats bitch slapping each other over …ethics.

Let’s set the stage here. Rep. Alan Grayson has been caught leading a double life as a Hedge Fund Manager, on the Cayman Islands. Now it is far from me to criticizing anyone who wants to make a buck, which is basically why I only tweeted about the subject. I just don’t like Rep. Alan Grayson’s politics.

(Via Hot Air) However Senator Harry Reid has taken exception to Rep Alan Grayson running for U.S. Senate:

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid on Friday called for U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson to drop out of the race for a Senate seat in Florida.

Reid said in a statement that Grayson claims to be progressive but seems to have “no moral compass.” He said Grayson used his office to unethically promote a hedge fund that until recently had been based in the Cayman Islands. …

“His actions aren’t just disgraceful to the Democratic Party, they disgrace the halls of Congress,” Reid said.

Moral compass? Ethics? Says the man who lied on the Senate floor to throw an election:

Harry Reid, D-Nev. has no regrets about his 2012 claims that then presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid no taxes for 10 years.

The outgoing Senate Minority Leader even bragged to CNN that the comments, which had been described as McCarthyism, helped keep Romney from winning the election.

They can call it whatever they want. Romney didn’t win did he?” Reid said during a wide-ranging interview.

Senator Harry Reid needs to make that self-awareness roll again, because he keeps failing it.

Of course, Mr. Florida Beastmode is not going to take this lying down:

Suggesting that Reid “may well prefer corrupt Establishment errand boy” and rival Democrat Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.), Grayson excoriated the retiring Nevada Senator in an email to Independent Journal Review:

I’m running against a rigged system and the Washington Establishment, so it’s no surprise that its departing figurehead, who failed so badly in the 2014 Senate races, relies on a false and misleading hyped story to try to pressure me out of this race. The reason why he is making such an absurd statement at all is that he knows that I’m well ahead in the polls, and heading for a strong primary victory.” …

“Sen. Reid managed to find a way to lose six out of seven open Senate seats in 2014, and lose six incumbent Democrats when the GOP lost none. Now he is personally attacking the clear choice of Florida Democrats, making the party into a circular firing squad.”

Yeah! You tell that has-been Senator Reid a thing or two, Rep. Grayson! Don’t let them suppress you! You are better than that, Grayson! No one tells Alan Grayson to go home or shut-up! Florida picks its nominees and not some Washington DC winkle-old white guy and Establishment errand boy! Show them were the sun shines, here in Florida and not DC!

Er… Sorry about that. Got excited. As a side note, I fully endorse Lt Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera for the US Senate.

Well, see ya’ later!

#FLSen: @AlanGrayson Justifiably Mad At @TheDemocrats Bosses

I didn’t want Sen. Marco Rubio to run for President. Not because I don’t like him, but because he should have run for re-election. I like the guy and I think he should run for Governor in 2018 when the seat opens up.

However, since he has thrown his hat into the ring for US President, both political parties have scrambled to find people to run for office. The Democrats seem to want to put up one candidate:

…Democrats are gearing up for a competitive race for an open swing state U.S. Senate seat. For weeks, it appeared as though the party was prepared to back moderate Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-FL) as their Sunshine State senatorial nominee. On Monday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee made it official.

“Patrick Murphy is one of our party’s most promising rising stars, and his track record of fighting for Florida’s working families, seniors, and the environment make him the strongest candidate to win the Florida Senate race and flip this seat,” said DSCC Chair Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) in a statement announcing the committee’s decision to back Murphy.

But progressive firebrand Rep Alan Grayson is having none of that nonsense:

“Florida Democratic voters choose our party nominee, not out-of-touch party bosses sipping cognac in a smoke-filled room in Washington, DC.,” Grayson tells the Tampa Bay Times in an email. “As I said before, I am probably going to run for the Senate.”

You tell them, Grayson! Don’t let them suppress you! You are better than that, Grayson! No one tells Alan Grayson to go home or shut-up! The people of Florida choose our Senators, not Washington DC party bosses!

You know, Alan Grayson’s story mirrors Marco Rubio. In 2010, the GOP party bosses in DC wanted Charlie Crist to run for US Senate and threw their weight behind him. But here comes this right-wing Marco Rubio wooing every conservative in the state and scooped up the GOP nomination. It was a Cinderella story if I ever saw one. Alan Grayson has just as much shot as Marco Rubio had.

So yeah, I hope Alan Grayson stays in the race! I am actually getting a hard on right now thinking about all the great articles I am going to be able to write from now until the Primary Election. God help me if Grayson wins (no really: God, please let Grayson win the nomination), because those articles will just get even better.

Well, see ya’ later!

#Election2016 #LakeCountyFL: I Support Margie Eaton

In 2012, I ran for the public office of Lake County (FL) Supervisor Of Elections. I have prayed these last few months and I have chose not to run this year. There are serveral reasons, mainly I want to bring electronic voting machines to Lake County. However the people (including all of Florida) don’t want to give up paper ballots right now. Fair enough.

I have learned that Margie Eaton has filed paper work to restart her campaign. I got to know Margie Eaton four years ago when she also ran and while she doesn’t share my vision on electronic voting machines*, we agreed on almost everything else. She is conservative and wants to be the most dedicated Supervisor Of Elections, Lake County has ever seen. Margie is forward thinking, but will follow the law and has an ear to the people.

For those reasons and much more, I personally support Margie Eaton for Lake County Supervisor Of Elections. If you voted for me four years ago, I highly recommend you vote for her too. If Eaton needs me, I will help campaign for her at any time.

May God Bless Margie Eaton, Lake County (FL), and the United States of America!

Well, see ya’ later!

#FLGov: If You Can’t Beat #EarlyVoting, Join Them!

There’s an old southern saying: “The second kick from the mule is of no educational value.”

The RPOF seems to have taken that message to heart. In 2012 we were betten senseless in early voting and GOTV efforts by national Democrats. This year I must have gotten no less than three calls from the RPOF before early voting started asking me if I was going to vote early. Not to vote on election day, but vote early. Florida Republicans have taken seriously early voting and/or absentee ballots, because holy fuck do the numbers bare this out:

559,133 registered Republicans have voted early or absentee, 421,425 registered Democrats, and 198,423 independent (NPA in Florida) or other. That’s about a 47 percent to 36 percent advantage. These numbers are also three days old and I am hearing this morning that we are leading them now by as much as 160K votes. To put this in context, there are more registered Democrats than registered Republicans in the state of Florida.

Unlike my GOP or RPOF brothers and sisters, I have always supported early voting and for a couple of good reasons. There is no “weekend” any more. I have never heald a “nine to five” job that gave me Sunday and Saturday off, unless my schedule just happens to fall on those days. Early voting gives people a chance to vote on their schedule. It also deflates the pressure on election day polling places, since there isn’t a mad rush to vote on election day. Now I will say we shouldn’t go crazy with early voting and limit it to two or three weeks out from election day.

I may have my problems with Rick Scott. However they pale when it comes to my problems with Charlie Crist. I hope that once Crist is defeated here again, he will slink away on his belly and never return.

Well, see ya’ later!

#NoOn2: #Florida Businesses Say No Too

As some of you know, I am against the so-called ‘medical’ marijuana amendment here in Florida for many reasons. However I am not the only one. Here are the Florida business organizations in their own words:

“Normally we focus on creating jobs, improving education and making Florida more competitive, but this is the type of business Florida can do without. I find it curious that the largest funder of this push to legalize pot is a personal injury trial lawyer firm, yet such measures are overwhelmingly opposed by Florida’s medical and law enforcement community. Florida voters are smart and when the facts are on the table, I believe they will say no to drugs in Florida.” – Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce

“Florida businesses cannot afford the tarnished image this Amendment would bring to our business-friendly state nor the negative consequences that increased marijuana use and availability will have in our neighborhoods and communities. Simply put, Amendment 2 is bad for business and bad for Florida.” – Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Florida

“CFHLA Leadership will not support an ambiguous legislation that defies federal law without medical legitimacy, especially an amendment that would turn Florida into one of the nation’s easiest states for individuals to acquire ‘medical’ marijuana certification.” – Resolution by Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association

“The provisions of Amendment 2 threaten Floridians’ quality of life because they are too nebulous, too loose and too lacking in common-sense protection from inappropriate and dangerous use.” – Steve Halverson, chairman of the Florida Council of 100

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida and the Florida Trucking Association have also come out against this awful amendment. Please go to No On 2 to learn more about this amendment or go to my podcast on the subject.

#FLGov: These Primary Numbers Look Awful

…For Charlie Crist

Despite what you might think, Charlie Crist had an awful day yesterday. Oh sure he won, but praimies are always a good sample of what the general will look like in close races. And it looks like the enthusiasm gap is held by Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) right now.

Let’s break down the statewide numbers (rounding up to the nearest 1,000 mark due to the absentee ballots haven’t been counted yet):

Total votes: Total GOP turnout was 951,000 and DEM turnout total up to 835,000, a difference of 116,000 votes.

Rick Scott: 88% of GOP vote. Charlie Crist: 75% of DEM vote.

Rick Scott: 834,000 votes. Charlie Crist: 621,000 votes (835,000 Total DEM; DEMs ended up beating Rick Scott, but just barely)

If I was Charlie Crist’s campaign manager, I’d start drinking right now. No one can honestly look at these numbers and see them as a good sign. Hell, even Joy Reid (h/t Twitchy) wants to hit the panic button:

John Kennedy, Palm Beach Post reporter, breaks down some depressing county numbers for DEMs:

Since I am a Republican, I will instead say: Yay!!!

This next tweet should give any Florida Democrat some pause:

There is no good strategy left for Charlie Crist. Any attempts to move to the center will further alienate his Democratic/liberal base and staying to the left can hurt him with possible right-of-center independents and GOP votes. He can’t go forward, backward, or even stand-still.

Rick Scott will still have to earn every vote he gets, thus GOTV will be very important. But sans a complete meltdown, I don’t see how Charlie Crist can win this election. The numbers are just not adding up for Crist.

PS: Rick Scott for Florida Governor.

Well, see ya’ later!
