Never Forget, Never Surrender

On this day we remember not because of what happen, but because we said never again! Never give-in! Never concede! Never forget! Never surrender!

Which brings me to a related subject: I, too, am not surrendering. So I have no car right now. Big deal. I’m still alive right now and that is all that matters. Many people in this world are currently sitting in my postion and they are not giving up. What doesn’t kill me, will only make me stronger. Right?

However, I still need a car. I’ll redouble my efforts to find a job (as if I’m not already looking for one) and will have to cut back my campaigning in the near-term. I have three “must-go-to” events this month and two in October. Other than that, hell yeah I am still running for office. All this means to me, is I just have to work that much harder. I’m down, but I’m not out.

You know, I carry the Gadsden Flag with me wherever I go. It gives me the strength and the motivation to keep going. To me, it is not just a warning to others, but a call to me for action. With it, I am always moving with purpose and direction. Don’t try to get in my way when I have it with me or I will walk through you. People died carrying this flag into battle, so I will not dishonor it or them by backing down now.

Well, see ya’ later!

Uncle Bob

Back from my road trip. It was indeed a trip not to be forgotten. The drive from Shady Valley, Tennessee and back is not all that fun, but I did get to know my Uncle Bob. He’s really an uncle my marriage (long story and I don’t want to get into right now), but that really doesn’t matter. He’s really cool and a blast of fresh air. We got along very well. My only real regret is not getting to know him sooner. Uncle Bob, up until a couple of months ago, didn’t live in Florida. He made the trip all the worthwhile.

Anyway, I am looking to do something on the 11th. Don’t want to be sitting at home doing nothing. Anyone have any ideas, please foward them to me.

Well, see ya’ later!

Justice Has Been Done

My 9/11 story is simple enough. It starts long before that day. After high school, I joined the Army. I could do the push-ups and the sit-ups, however I couldn’t get past the run part of the physical. There is no shame really, I guess I just wasn’t built for running.

On that fateful day, I was at home waking up and I tune my radio to Howard Stern (I don’t care what you say about him; he had the best morning shows on the radio at the time, hands down) to wake up to. I had class later that day and was in no hurry to get up. I remember getting hungry, so much so that I needed something to eat. I got up and made myself a bowl of cereal. A few minutes later, my dad comes running into the kitchen (I lived with my dad at the time) and tells me something aweful has happen. We turn on the tv and there was the first tower smoking.

Now I have to stop here and tell you that I thought my dad knew about some kind of horror/action movie was on and was playing this up to joke on me. This was just to horrorible to be real. After a few minutes and switching to other channels, the reality shunk in. Then, right before my eyes and live on tv, the second plane hit the second tower.

The rest of the day was a blur. All I remember is that the rest of the world faded away and all there was what was happening on the tv. I barely ate and I was a weck by the end of the day.

I knew going forward that I really could not rejoin the Army. But I did support our efforts to fight the War On Terror. I even met a girl who joined the Army in the middle of Iraq/Afghanistan and fell in love with her.

Now, Osama Bin Laden is dead. Justice has been done. While I still don’t like Obama politically nor will I ever vote for the man, I tip my hat that he kept this quite until we had his body.

Last night I almost went to bed before turning the channel onto Fox News. They said Obama was going to give a speech. I am now relieved that I stayed up and was able to hear Obama’s speech on the death of public enemy number one.

My good friend Moe Lane said it best:

(L)et us now get on with our lives; bin Laden is dead, and I am alive, and that is precisely how things should be.

Amen.

My 9/11/2001 Story And Beyond

Everyone has their story. Where they were and what they did on September 11th, 2001. My story isn’t very exciting really. In fact, I would call it boring. However my life would be effected by those events of that day in ways I could never imagine.

Seven Years

Quick thoughts on this the seventh year: I’m happy to be alive, to be in general good health, and to have a job that I love. I am also very greatful to be living in the greatest country in the world.

I will never forget what happen this day seven years ago, but it will not rule my life. Today I spent the day playing Starcraft and eating Pizza Rolls. Life is good.

Well, see ya’ later!
