Belated Announcement: Newest Elder Affairs Coordinating Council Member

At the December 20th Meeting of Lake County’s Board of County Commissioners, I was appointed to the Elder Affairs Coordinating Council by Commissioner Jennifer Hill.

I know I am not an elder per say, but I do currently live with my grandmother and I hope to grow old in Lake County. So, if anything, I do have a unique perspective I hope to bring to the council.

I am also running for local office here. However seeing that meetings take place on Thursday mornings at 9am, I don’t think there will be any conflict. I told Commissioner Hill that my top proity would be the council.

There are two things I want to do while on the council:

  1. Lake County Senior Fest 2012, 2013 – Don’t know what happen to 2011 Senior Fest (don’t see anything on the site), but I think this is great event. Look into seeing if the VA can also come to assist senior veterans as well.
  2. Restart Lake’s “The Elder Council Ledger” – The last one was published in June of 2009! I know most senior citizens are not taking advantage of the internet, but Baby Boomers and those behind them will definitely use something like this online. I will more than happy to offer any help that I can in this effort.

Again, these are just a few of the items I see that maybe we can do again and better. I hope to work with the other twelve members of the council on these and other important items.

[UPDATE] My first meeting will be Januray 26, 2012 at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Training Room A, Tavares, FL. Please come out and visit.

Well, see ya’ later!

Christmas Tauntauns

“Christmas Tauntauns” will send everyone who grew up in the 80s back to their childhood. I know it does me. If you ever were a kid when Star Wars came out or shortly there after, you grew up in the early days of toy-tie-ins. Everything that came out aimed at kids had toys that came with it.

Sometimes they had bad results. I had #34 Pizzaface, #30. Stinkor, #28. Orbear, one #10. Eco Warrior, and yes, one Ithorian.

God, I loved my childhood. I remember that I used to have a Toy Army, with each toy had a function and a neat chain of command (with me at the top, of course). We go out and battle the evil toy army that I also built or big single evil toys.

Of couse as a child, you think Christmas is all about you. Of course when you grow up, you realize that is complete bunk. Christmas is a hoilday for the adults as well. In fact, I think we love the ride more than you kids will ever imagine.

And yes, Santa Claus is very much real. I don’t care what anyone says. Tell them that BigGator5 personally vouches for the big guy in the red suit.

I also want to leave off with one of my favorite Christmas story ever:

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Well, see ya’ later!

Return Of The Uncommon Cold

The Uncommon Cold has returned. I call it the uncommon cold for two reason:

  1. I rarely get sick.
  2. I take enough allergy meds to normally suppress cold symptoms.

Thus when I get sick, I really get sick. I am able to hold my food down, but otherwise I feel aweful*. This morning I woke up and I felt like dying. I’ve taken enough meds to get shredded. Maybe it is because I can’t think of anything else to do.

Here’s to hoping I can shake this before Christmas comes around.

I really miss DragonGate at this moment. I wish she email me with her address in Italy so I can write then send her a letter. I haven’t really heard from her since my computer melted and she headed to Italy. I’m very worried something might have happen to her or that she’s hooked up with some hunky Italian man. It is not knowing what is going on with her that is really killing me.

Well, see ya’ later!
