Update: Sundance Update

     Ok, check it out. Monday I answered a CraigsList job ad on an impluse. About an hour later, I was surprised when I got called in for an interview. The woman wanted me to come in Tuesday, but I couldn't because I wanted to go to a job fair on that day. The job fair was a bust, so on the way home I swung by and went to see if the woman could take me in for an interview. She was busy, so I said I come in tomorrow. No big deal, life goes on.

     Here's where things turn fucking weird. I get a call soon afterward at home telling me my interview was called off. I think they must have found someone to fill the job and soon put it out of my mind. I go to CraigsList and find they have reposted the job. So I call asking what is up. The woman then tells me that she dismissed me from my inteview just because I had came there a day early without calling ahead. Angry, I sent an email to her corporate office:

To whom it may concern;

I don't have a question, as much as I have a grievance about one of your officers at the Sundance Apartments in Clermont, FL.

A job was posted on CraigsList for a Leasing Associate and I sent in my resume via email (ebrock@capreit.com) and set-up an interview for today (note that she called me and set-up the interview). Yesterday, I had time on my hands and went to see if I could get an interview then. She was busy and I was more than content to come in at the original appointment. I then got a call telling me not to come in. I was just told the reason for this dismissal, was because I came in early without calling ahead.

Turning people away, just because he/she came in early is both rude and dishonest. I personally think these kind of hiring practices are unprofessional and discriminative. Most employers like initiative and an eagerness to work, people who think outside the box. However your manager over-reacted to such a trivial act, it calls into question her interaction with customers. Does she easly dismiss customers as she does people who are eagerly looking for a better job for themselves?

     So I don't understand employers. I do nothing and nothing happens. I take an active role in pursuit of the job and I am dismissed. I sometimes think this world is working against me.

     In more personal news, I spent my first day at my old job. It was horrible. Not only I was I not feeling good, but my Aunt's car (which I have been driving since my car won't run for it's own very special reasons) finally died while I was at work. I thought it was the battery and will stake my life on that theory. I also unwarrently blew up at my Grandmother (to which I apologized to). Tomorrow is going to be a very long day indeed.

Well, see ya' later!
