New Year Resolutions 2008

I am looking forward and very hopeful for the new year. This makes my New Year Resolutions very simple:

1) Get a job and keep it. – This is basicly the hardest part. Not really keeping the job, but gettng it. I just hope it doesn’t stretch into the last job search.

2) Try and be a better person on the internet. – I know I’m an asshole. Time to change. I know it won’t be easy, but I can do it.

Well, see ya’ later!

Global Orgasm Day

Global Orgasm Day

Interesting concept. On December 22 2007, at 06:08GMT (which is around 1:08AM my time) everyone is to have an orgasm for World Peace.

Don’t get me wrong, I am far from beinging a hippy and I don’t think this will bring about world peace. However, who is it going to harm? No one as far as I see and it should be fun.

I will be taking part in this, just to say I did. Now, I am not saying you should go out and have random sex with someone. This is about having an orgasm. If you can’t, then you can’t. No one will think any less if you get in on the act or not.

I personally have a very liberated view on sex: Sex, either with yourself or with others, should be fun and enjoyable for every adult. I believe once you are over 18 and as long all parties are consenting (and willing to take responsibility), then anything goes. It should also be a part of any healthy relationship with your mate.

Update (12/22/2007): My mind is blown. I swear I don’t believe in this shit, but I felt it last night. If you didn’t try it this year, you have to get in on it next year.

Well, see ya’ later!

Dramatic Sea Rescue

USS Ronald Reagan Rescues Sick Teen

I thought you guys might enjoy this happy story about the US Navy going out of their way to help someone. This story hits close to home, because my sister is in the US Navy and (although not part of the USS Ronald Reagan crew) is doing good work herself. I don’t think of the US Military as a war machine, but as Defenders of Life and Liberty. Next time you see someone in uniform this Holiday Season, give them a smile and a big THANK YOU!

Spread this feel-good story to someone who might enjoy it as well.

Well, see ya’ later!

Snow Day

If you do not already know, it doesn’t snow here in Florida. I like to consider it a perk of living here. I went up north one winter and although I like visiting, I swore I would never live in that snow. Sure it was fun as hell, but by week’s end I was ready to go home to sun and palm trees. But I digress.

The next town had a “Snow Day” where they pack snow (or ice, but who’s counting?) on a hill and had people slide down on cheap snow sleds. They also had food stands, a rock-climbing wall, a maze, and Santa Claus. Anyway, we got there earily and got something to eat. We then got in line to go down the slide.

As we got to our turn, Blake got cold feet (no pun intended). I then reminded Blake of the elephant ride and how after being scared at first, he got on the elephant and had a great time. With a smile on his face, he look back at the slide and said he’ll go down. Being the dumbass that I am, I let him go down by himself.

So he goes down by himself, thinking it would be ok. He’s a big kid and I’ve seen kids his age who crash walk away. So 2/3rds down he does crash. I go down shortly afterward and crash around the same pace he did. I get “rope burn” on my left hand and slide a good yard on my ass.

I look up and saw Blake crying. I get up and go to him, where my Grandmother (Nanny) is looking after him. His right hand is scratched up, but he is fine. Blake refuses to get treated at the First Aid stand and so we have to leave. I don’t mind him doing stuff and getting hurt, but we needed to clean cuts or they will get infected. I mean, if I’m over reacting with this, then please tell me.

Blake of course, hates me all the way home. When we get close to home, he says he wants to go down the snow slide again. Me and Nanny roll our eyes as she pulls into the driveway.

Well, see ya’ later!

Tin Man

Wow. I just finished up watching Tin Man on the Sci-Fi Channel. It is the most imaginative revision of The Wizard of Oz I have ever seen. Although I think the end was completely sappy. I won’t give away any plot details, but I can only imagin the aftermath.

In other news, I might be knowing in the next few days if I have a job. The job I have been going for has been upgraded from a part-time to full-time. This might mean that there will be more people going for it, but if I can get it that will be better than having a part-time job. I want you guys to wish me luck!

Well, see ya’ later!

Redemption

I went to go see Glenn Beck last night with my dad and step-mom. I have been writing this all day, so this is why it has taken so long to put out there.

Anyway, this was Glenn Beck’s Christmas Tour. The main focus was on The Meaning of Christmas and what he thinks about each of the aspects of the holiday. He does take jabs at Democrats because most of his fans are consertives, but over-all this is a no non-sense and anti-PC (while he has nothing against other religions having holidays this time of year, rages against PC punks trying to push Christmas from public view altogether) look at Christmas. He also had a full array of stroies about his family, both comedical and heart-touching.

“But Gator, you are an Atheist! Why do you care?” Well, I do celebrate Christmas (I can just imagin Ellen Johnson having an heart-attack right now) too. The rest of my family are Christains and I just want to enjoy the time together without rocking the boat, because it wouldn’t be fair to them. I also enjoy it, so what is the harm?

Basicly Glenn Beck goes on about how things like presents and shopping commercializing the holiday. Even through he agrees that the magic and innocence of children are a big part of the holiday, it is not the true meaning of Christmas. While family and even freshly baked surger cookies are part of the holiday, they are also not part of the meaning of Christmas. He even says that the birth of Jesus is not the true meaning of Christmas, if not told the true meaning of the holiday:

Redemption. Without redemption, the story of Jesus is meaningless. Christmas, Glenn Beck says, should be about redeming yourself and offering redemption to others (even if you don’t agree with them).

Now I’m not about to convert to Christianity. Glenn Beck also made this out better than I can. However I like how Glenn Beck thinks and I would like to dwell on what he said.

Well, see ya’ later!
